The directing capstone is a semester-long project where students simulate directing a whole play by creating a directors notebook with pre-production, rehearsal and performance, and post-mortem materials. In this process, students practice creating and executing a concept by addressing the roles of a designer, as well. Although I recognize that directors do not serve as designers, I appreciated the opportunity to approach my scene as a designer as well, considering my interest in sound. The semester concludes with a 10-minute performance of a chosen scene.
